ISaloni – the most important furniture fair in the world
ISaloni fair - one of the most important events in the world of design - is already behind us. This April event every year attracts hundreds of thousand visitors to Milan who want to learn about the latest trends, find inspirations and admire what is offered by exhibitors.
The ISaloni fair is a breathtaking presentation of the latest trends followed by furniture producers and interior designers all over the world. A true design festival! What materials, colours and forms could be seen this year in Milan? What trends are entering the furniture and interior design stage?
It turns out that powder colours reign – pink, yellow, green and blue. This was definitely one of the most visible trends at ISaloni. According to the forecasts of Pantone, the green colour - of the bottle, deep and equivocal type - was triumphant. It attracts the growing number of designers who apply it to upholstered and case-type furniture, both small and large. What is interesting, the black colour, in a matt finish, becomes more and more visible. It works very well on metal elements (e.g. in frames and accessories) and it is more and more boldly used in tables and chairs.
What to use to make a piece of furniture
As regards the most popular materials, in addition to natural wood, we most commonly encountered metal and stone at the ISaloni fair. They work very well as coffee table and dinner table tops, chests of drawers and bedside tables.
It is important that designers are more and more willing and encouraged to play with various materials, freely joining them together. They also mix colours, structures and forms. It is no longer surprising that one piece of furniture, for instance a table, is made of wood, metal, stone and glass at the same time.
Milan in numbers
The design festival in Italy may boast impressive figures. The fair in Milan is a magnet both for exhibitors and visitors. During the last edition of the event, we could admire stands of 2,000 exhibitors. No less than 342,602 visitors came from 165 countries.
ISaloni is held on 200,000 square meters of exhibition space, which is divided into five zones: Salone Internazionale del Mobile, the International Furnishing Accessories Exhibition, Euroluce, Workplace3.0 and SaloneSatellite. This year’s edition was accompanied by 20th anniversary of SaloneSatellite, participated in by more than 650 designers from 16 design schools.
